Welcome to Crappie.com. I use to use one of those nylon clothes bags that looks like a net. You can keep your fish in it and keep it overboard to keep them alive. It works great until you forget to bring it in when you crank up the motor to move.
Hello all I have been reading the board for a while now, very good info here. Now for the first of msny annoying questions. What is best for keeping fish while fishing, stringer, fish basket, cooler? We don.t have a lot of room for a cooler and there is no livewell on the boat. Any ideas? Thanks Paul

Welcome plbab, I use float tube lots so am a fan of the floating wire baskest for that use. For boat use as the water warms a little I would recomend making room for a cooler. Nothing compares to a cooler for icing fish. The next time I find one, I'll buy a quality wire stringer with the snap wires and spacers between them. I don't like them for holding fish, but they are just the thing for stringing for fish pictures at the end of the day. ha ha
I"d Go with a cooler if theres any possible way.Warm water & crappie on stringer =dead fish!I even Carry a cooler full of ice[have 2 livewells],so if they start gettin inactive in the ice they go.Good Fishin To Ya!!Dennis

Welcome plbab. Be sure to secure the spring loaded doors on a basket they can open and let the fish out. If you can find room the cooler with ice would be a good option. lol
Today is a great day
