Whiz you reckon he caught it on a 14' fiber glass pole with a minnow?
    What did it weigh?

I was going to ask if it was a blue OR a channel cat, but I see in the article it was a blue. Must be an awfully big fella to hold it without any strain if it's as big as the article states. - Roberta

Default You sent me digging through our old In-Fisherman mags

I wanted to see how big the blue was that was caught in Texas last year and lives in a tank in Athens, TX. "Splash" as it was named, weighed in at 121.5 when it was caught. I'll bet the guy that caught it can't believe his record has fallen already.
I was glad to hear on NPR this morning that this new one is alive and on display, but I still can't get over the man standing there holding a 124 pound fish like a sack of flour. - Roberta.

Roberta, it's no different than carrying your wife over the threshold.

I'm curious how they kept the thing alive after catching it. Kind of doubt they put it on a stringer and put it over the side. Wouldn't fit in any white buckets I've got.

Yeah, but I don't weigh anywhere near that now and weighed even less when my 160 pound hubby toted me.

Does anyone know when that fish might be on display at Cabelas? I live about an hour from that store and I will make a special trip out there to see that monster!! Well ,while i am there I may just have to "look" at a few things too!!! What a fish, and what a strong fisherman. I am a big guy but I think my face would have at least turned red holding that thing!
