Hi all ~
If a person was to do a tv show on catching LARGE crappies (numbers preferred), where would you think the best bite would be? Where? Time of year? Best guide?
Thanks for any input........Greg Clusiau (Northern Minnesota)

They say Mississippi lakes like Grenada have some monster slabs and lots of fish. Sure you could google Mississippi gudes and find a Crappie guide.:D

I would have to agree with Nimrod on Mississippi, but California has there fair share of hogs too. I spent three years there and caught a lot of 2#+ fish on a regular basis.

If you are in Arkansas it would be the boats of either Jerry Blake or Darryl Morris, in Tennessee would be Cane Poles new boat, well U get the message:

Can't recomend a guide. But Capps and Coleman won crappiemasters Mississippi state championship with 7 fish over 16 1/2 lbs. at Arkabutla . I fish here weekly, numbers of fish can be difficult at times, but I have caught more than a dozen fish over 3, and have seen several fish caught over 4 by people I know. Grenada Lake is also loaded with quality fish.

We went to Grenada this Spring and there are some pole bust'n hogs just look'n for an unattentive fisheremen gazing across the lake. The weather wasn't great when we went but we did manage some fish close to the 3# mark. I would say Miss. is the place. Pstone seems to have em' figured out down there. You may convince him with some greenbacks. :D

Something approaching the 3 pound mark would be awesome! Thanks for the input everyone. Keep 'em coming!

I've seen lots of 2.5 and a few 3 at Ross Barnett Rez, But the really big'ens are up in north MS.
Last fall/winter the Ross Barnett produced several 3# fish in the main lake area
