Default Better late than never-Jordan 10/11

Minnowboy and I hit Farrington Point at Jordan Saturday morning around 8. Water temp was 69. Wind was up, I'd say at a constant 15 mph at least and made trolling and staying in any spot really hard. We fished with minnows and jigs but all fish were caught on minnows. Fished channel edges at the bridge and tried to go on other side of bridge but water was just too dang rough. We ended up with 12 keepers that were 11" plus with a couple 13-1/2 -14". Around lunch a gentleman and his lady companion came by and offered us a couple of keepers. One was 15" and fat as heck. They had caught him on the other side of the bridge but also got tired of fighting the wind. Around 2:30 my trolling battery was dead from fighting the wind. Never had that happen. I'm sure it's a little weaker than new but running it on 6-7 instead of 2-3 cut the runtime in 1/3. We had a blast except Minnowboy kept fussing at me. The fish were in 16'-18' of water at about 14'...no where else. Even with the autopilot on when I would catch a fish crossing over that range I'd have to stop adjusting the speed and most of the time the boat would drift back into shallower water. Of course Minnowboy accused me of doing that on purpose. We tied up at the bridge for awhile but no fish there. Finally the last hour we'd just crank up and go to far side of channel...kill the engine and drift back with the wind across both edges of the channel. Only caught one more that way though. Less the wind twas a great day. Left around 4 30.

Sounds like you made the best of a frustrating wind fight. Good catches though! That is my least favorite way to enjoy fishing...fighting the wind. Glad you were able to enjoy it despite the being fussed at. :D
