Default has anyone heard of this?

Some years back I had a 25 hp outboard that wouldnt idle very good. An old man told me to put some denatured alcohol in the gas and run the whole 6 gallon tank thru it. I did, and it ran like a top. The only problem is I dont remember the amount per gallon of gas. Does anyone have any idea or done this theirselves? He basically told me that if a motor hasnt been used in along time or very seldom that it gums up the carberator and this will break it lose and dissolve it. To make a long story short, I own that 25 hp motor again and the guy I sold it to 6 years ago only used it a great now and then. It runs great and smooth but doesnt want to idle again.

or try OMC 2+4 fuel additive it's awsome for that kind of stuff. just remember it's OMC not CRC they are both in white plastic bottles, but the OMC 2+4 is the one, and oh yeah, it will stain anything it comes in contact with. great stuff. I get mine from a little boat dealership, it's kind of hard to find.

Just jerk the carb off and do it right. Not a hard job at all.
You'll thank yourself in the long run.
