    Default Marine Battery

I looked at the acid level in my battery last night and it is a little low. Do I just add water or do I need to get acid to put back in it?

    Thanks,
    OMEN

You'll be OK with water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Use only distilled water, available at any Wal-Mart or grocery store. The tap contains contaminants that will deposit on your plates and rob you of power and eventually ruin the battery.

If you have a dehumidifier use the water from it!

is the correct answer ... but, you don't add it to the battery & then recharge it ..... the correct way is to recharge the battery FIRST - Then add the distilled water

Quote from a Factoid section about Deep Cycle Batteries : "Batteries should be watered AFTER charging unless the plates are exposed, then add just enough water to cover the plates."
They also recommend filling to within 1/4-1/2 inch of the cell hole opening.

Here's the link, in case you want to get more technically specific :p :
