fishing in October

Hi guys,
I am coming down from Missouri to visit friends and fish for a week later in October. I willbe staying in the Muscle shoals area. I guess Pickwick Lake wiil be my best bet for Crappie fishing. I know you fish a little different down there than what I am use to back home. Is there any suggestions that might help me in locating and catching fish. i was there last March and fished Bear creek arm of Pickwick Lake. We caught fish but we wasn't setting any records on numbers. However I did land a 2lb12oz before I had to return home

I fish bear creek alot, but rarely do I fish it this time of year. I wish I could be of more help. I would try shallow flats around 12-18 feet. I woul dstart trolling 1/8 ounce jigs, black and chart with a pink head. Once you find a area holding fish, try tightlining or drifting minnows just off the bottom. There is a ton of brush out there. Try to get right on the channel drops. If that doesn't work, tightline minnows on the deep edge fo the channel. Say 18-26 feet.

If that doesn't work, try the bait shop there at Rose Trail. The have some homemade yellow and chart dynamite.

i understand about not fishing much this time of year. Usually I have hung up my fishing poles and got the bow out in search of that huge whitetail. thanks for the information if nothing else we will get to spend some quality time with friends having fun.

You should be there at the right time. With the fronts starting to roll in. Pickwick (Bear Creek) really kicks in after the first cold front of Oct.

Start on the creek channels in 15 to 18 ft. depths. Spider rigs work good this time of the year. Live bait should be the ticket.

Thanks KrappieKrazy, I need all the help I can get. We are leaving out of here on the 23 of Oct. I hope my buddy's dad doesn't have to many jobs for us to do. That way we can make the most of fishing
