I know what you mean! I've got an 89 model 35 Merc. Runs great but I need all the seals in the lower unit, new water pump, and a stainless prop. About $500.00. Got to do it though.
Just got a call from the place I took my Boat to get it worked on. Costing me $547.00 for the motor repair. Darn now I cant even afford to put it in the water after that bill lol.

CATCH A BIG-UN
Sorry to hear that and a shame you don't live closer to me as I would take you fishing if I get caught up tying, LOL!

Slab mines an 85 Mercury 150. It also needed a water pump. Skip I appreciate the offer. I guess I cant say much I am leaving for Port Aransas Saturday morning. As a gift to my Mom and Dad, me and my Brother rented a condo for them for a month. They asked me to come down for a week and how could I turn that down hehe.

Fine fishing down there for sure. I lived 11 years in Ingleside and went 100% Salt Water for that time. Love it down there and man I caught my share of them red fish for sure. Got a lot of trout too, but the Reds became a passion for me while there.
Gold spoons and strawberry taut tails were the ticket most of the time.
Once the limit went to 30" and 5 per person my best day with a fried we had 9 that had 4 30" reds included and the smallest was 27" I had 10 on and lost 5 so I landed 5 he got 4. was using 10# line or would have landed more, but love fishing the shallow with small line and that first run was something else!
Good Luck,

I would be glad to take you out fishing, but it is probably cheaper to git your boat fixed than gas to Tn and back.....

I have a Tracker PF-16 that I bought new in '88. It has served me well with minimal up-keep. I love my rig but want to do a few upgrades such as a 997 Humminbird, a new Minn-Kota trolling motor and some new gear. I also need to re-do my trailer and have some major service done on my Merc.35. If I ever replace it it will be with an Evinrude E-Tec 40.
CATCH A BIG-UN
Here is my rig. Runs real cheap. In the morning, put 2 eggs, some grits, 2 pieces of crispy bacon and a cup of coffee in it and runs good til about 11:30:
put a peanut butter samich and a coke in it and that will get you the rest of the day. No major repairs so far.
I'll call you when I get to Texas and take you up on that offer. The price of gas, food, utilities, and health care has really limited how far I can afford to travel on a fixed income. I get so P.O.'d when I see companies get 85 Bilion dollar bailouts and within a week they can afford to spend $425,000.00 on vacations and golf outings for their executives! That is B.S.!!!
They should take the rest ( $84,500,000.00 ) of the taxpayers money back and demand a repayment of the $425,000.00 they spent on the ececutives vacations and fire them. Bail out somebody who can appreciate it ...like me.
I'll get me a John boat and feed my family on Crappie in a modest $150,000.00 home instead of those $2,000,000.00 and up mansions that CEO's live in, never clean themselves, and just waste energy. Who needs 22 bedrooms in a house??????????
High gas and energy prices is hurting fishing and we ought to be mad about it!!! Thank God for bank fishing. I am so poor I cannot pay attention.
