Looks good.I've done the same w/2 litre soda bottles for just minnows and crawdads.
Well I wanted to make a minnow/perch/bullhead trap but didnt want to invest $30+ in wire to make one of the 4 way perch traps yet. I got thinking about making one out of acrylic but its $$$. I found some 5 gallon water bottles and went to town. Its comming along really well . In the pic the funnel ends are not actually attached but i do have one attached now and i also drilled both funnels like swiss cheese. The 2 bottles form one large cavity about 25" long and 11.5" in diameter. they are bolted together. For cutting off the funnel end i used a 12" compound miter saw with a 2x6 clamped to the fence and then a stop block so i could rotate them to cut all the way around. I still have to add a few holes and a bait door and then im good to go. To attach the funnel end to the body I made some hog ring type clips out of heavy wire as I did not want to waste SS hardware. ILL take some more pics tomarrow.

Looks really good man. If I can find some old 5 gallon water bottles, I just might do something like this. Thanks for sharing. Be sure to let us know how well it works.

The bottles are hard to find. Kmart had a large bottle recycling display that was not Rob proof:p. Its about done. I just cut the door out and got the last funnel side ready to mount and made more clips, these are not shown in the pics.

How Crafty of you. Good looking stuff too.
When I make something up from the stuff in my Barn it never comes out looking that good.
On your Hog-rings, find some pieces of Outdoor Hog wire fencing and cut pieces of that for your Hog-rings. It's Galvanized as well as the kind of metal that dont hardly ever rust.
It's also soft enough to work with.
I cut a piece as long as I need, bend the ends in with needle nose, just enough so the Hog-ring pliars will finish the job right in the correct place.
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D
Very nice ! !

"Teach the world to fish = you won't have any fish left to eat "
So what is your favorite type of bait to catch minnows/shiners?
How often do you check the trap?
Good lookin' rig. Who'd a thunk it?

Looks like a nice trap. I'll have to make myself one of those!
"To catch fish, you gotta be on the fish!"
That should work.
