Default Picked up a couple of 14" Crappie

Well Randy had is surgery yesterday and it came out well, but still a lot before we know much.

To kill some time and get my mind off that I went out for a little while yesterday afternoon. I know blue bird day, wrong time and all that, but I really didn't care much just wanted out and we didn't fish very long.

I tried one of the new two tone crosscut rabbit strip jigs. I for got to take a picture before it got wet and used, bit I do have a Road Runner tied with same stuff.

Anyway here are a couple of very fat 14" crappie (actually one a little over that and one right on it) I managed to catch. Maybe you can see the jig in the pic.

Here is a Road Runner tied with same stuff though...

Glad to get the report on your son. Continue to remind him that folks on the fishing side of life are still praying for him.

Congratulations on the catch. Been tying rabbit strip into all kinds of flies for decades, hard to beat the action it puts out, without any movement from the line, just sits there and breathes.

Good looking stuff you're tying up.

    Thanks guys!

boatstall I have been working on these rabbit strips for a short time (maybe 6 months with the Zonkers and just got the first crosscut about a month ago) , but I do like it a lot. Heck I have only been tying for 3 years anyway and when I started into flies last year that is when I decided to try some of the fly stuff on jigs. Of course my material cost went out of sight, but love tying anyway.

Nice catch-- nothing like being on the lake to give you a little peace of mind.

Good to hear that your son is doing OK. I know it is a rough road that he has been on and will be on for some time. I think of him often.

I'm heading to Grenada tomorrow and I'm going to try out those roadrunners. I'll let you know how I do.

Glad to hear your son is making good progress. I like the color combo on the jigs. That particular blue has been good to me on Oologah.
