johnson outboard controls

I have a 30 hp johnson with remote steering on my lowe 16' deep v and would like to put a 50 hp on the boat. I found one on ebay with old controls that do not look in the best conditions and was wondering if I could just use my existing controls. thanks

What year of motor is your 30, and what year is the 50HP?1973 to 1995 used the same big red plug in harness.1996 to newer uses the newer style Deutsch connectors.PJ
