Default Water Temp for Fall fishing to Start

Anybody know what the water temp should be for fall fishing to start?

Went this morning on Old Hickory and got 2 small ones, water temp was 76 degrees.

Here in KY, we have water temps in the 70-75 range. I thought it was going to be kickin', but fishin' this weekend was really slow. I couldn't figure it out, but I struck out pretty badly on both Sat and Sunday. My favorite jig is Crappie Slider (junebug with chart. tail), but I couldn't get it to work, and everything else I threw wasn't doing any better.

    It's always "started" :D

It was 75-76 or so here this weekend, and the fish kinda threw me a
curve, but bit ok after I started figuring 'em out.

A month ago I was doin fair on a drop from 22 to 29' with some brush,
but all of a sudden, all but the little guys have bailed out.
My first though was "shallower", but ended up going back towards main
lake in 30-35' and found them under a school of shad

And seemed like the bigger they were, the more timid they bit -
spider-rigging with straight minnows, one of the lines would just lag behind,
and you either had a hang, or a fish And seems like the bigger fish
all came off of the biggest minnows - I'm not kidding, I had some shiners
over 4" long mixed in, and by the end of the morning, I was culling through
    looking for the biggest.

Seems like this time of year the smaller sized bass minnows do well for me.

I like No. 4 minnows. Here in Arkansas, it seems the optimum, for me, is about when the water temp reaches 65 degrees. Right now it's still a bit warm (high to mid 70's) but the bite is picking up a little.

Are you all referring to surface temperature? I only caught 2 black crappie yesterday and 2 brim on assassins and no minnows. I fish clear water and locator shows fish at 25 to 30 ft. water with surface temp. at 75. Trying to catch minnows without any success, only small brim with cast net or black WM trap. I used to catch plenty of minnows with my old natural finish trap but the new black coated trap with onions and sweet feed does not work for me.
