yes bag them up ,if you tie flies you can't have enough feathers.
One of my big Austrolopes died today. He has some subtle strains of bronze and some silver among his sooty black feathers.
He has some shiney black too.
Are those feathers any good for flies?
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D

yeah keep theme
The fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad
OK, I hung him up last night. If he's still there this AM, He's gonna lose some of his finery to my feather bag.
Thanks.

All feathers no matter what will tie some kind of fly, and it's just plain fun to try it.
Fatman
Not sure if you have done anything with the feathers yet.
The original post is a bit dated.
In the future, if you have a bird that you want to keep for feather salvage, try skinning the bird and clean as much fat from the hide. After the bird is skinned, rub the hide with borax, found in the laundry department at the store. (you know the 20 mule type)
The hide will toughen up in no time and you can then bag it.
Done this way your feathers will stay somewhat organized.
Thanks Hogan.
Yup, I pulled a sack full of feathers off of him.
I went down to the edge of the property and buried him.
The Varmints dug him up and have disposed of him and most of the feathers they left are lost in the foliage.
Next time I'll skin him thought. That's what we do normally when we are gonna eat one of the Roosters. I just never thought of the Borax. Ol' Ronnie Regan is turning over in his grave when he heard me say that!
