Default Advice: Road Runners on Capps, and Coleman rig...

    Hi guys.

    (Question 1.)
I've been primariy using the RR's on the Capps and Coleman rig.
Do you guys swap off the tubes, and just add minnows, or do you
totally replace the RR's with hooks to allow for more movement?

    (Question 2.)
If you guys were to long line off of your boat. (3 poles only!)
It's a semi V grumman - how would you set up your poles to long line?

    Many thanks!

    Rick.

I would replace the road runners with hooks. In fact I'm not a big fan of the rig with jigs at all. The top jig spends about 80 percent of the time fouled in the other line for me. I know boat movement is supposed to keep it away, but it seems like with jigs just getting into the water without tangling is hard, much less fishing it. That said I still use it though when pushing jigs in water deeper than 10 feet. Anyone else have this trouble? If not how do you stop it?

I had the same problem and now tie my top jig (I use a minnow on the bottom) with 12lb test line. It still gets tangled every now and then but not as often. My thought is that the stiffer line will keep it away from the main line better. To be honest, I rarely catch anythingn on the top jig but have pulled some doubles in. I've gone with both minnows but didn't have any better luck.

You put a regular hook on the top leader so it won't get tangled up. You put a RR on the bottom leader. I use them both ways, with a tube and without a tube and put a monnow on a plain RR head. It works good both ways. You should try a RR on a single pole tightlining sometime. I have caught more fish wth a RR head and a minnow and no skirt.
