Default Igloo cooler minner bucket aerator mod. pic

You can buy these adapters for 5-10 bucks plus shipping, but I made mine for 2.50. Made from water hose repair kit (female end) and a universal hose adapter.

I cut some length off the water hose adapter and shoved the universal vacuum hose adapter thru the center of the water hose adapter. I then sealed with marine silicon. It is a snug fit, and should not leak. I will screw this into the drain plug of the cooler and hook up my portable aerator (2 d battery) unit. I will put some hose and a aquarium air stone in the cooler and hook up to the inside vacuum line adapter. Total cost about 15 dollars including the Frabil quiet aerator (which I share on my portable minner bucket). Already had the cooler, just adding the aerator.

Invented this day 9/30/2009. Free to anyone to copy but not for sale...

    Parts from Fred's and NAPA....

No holes to drill in cooler. Mover from cooler to cooler.

    Modified female water hose connector.

    Universal vacuum hose adapter.

Combined silicone sealed adapter. $2.50 to make.

    Default livewell/min

I added air pumps to two different ice chests. I used velcro on the lid to hold the pump and then just drilled a hole for the air line. On one lid i added gromets on both sides an the other i just left the hole. No trouble with either.

No drilling holes in cooler involved by doing this..

Look at pics above. Get a female hose repair kit. Cut the nipple off.

Get a universal vacuum line adapter from a autoparts store.

Shove the vacuum line adapter thru the water hose end and silicone on the end.

Screw this home made unit on the cooler drain plug. hook up areator line to areator and then hook up air stone inside.

No holes to drill, Lines at the bottom of cooler. Hang aerator on cooler handle.

I am not familiar with round coolers. It will work with any water hose type drain plug.

I got another system on my boat, a little more work and money but with some benefits.
No noise at all, no batteries to buy, no bulky aerator hanging on bucket. I got a 12 volt dual outlet pump, mounted under a front storage compartment in bottom of boat. Used 1/8" brass nipples and terminated 2 outlets, one on console facing front of boat, one under seats for back fisherman. Permantly mounted brass nipples on tops of minnow buckets with hose and airstone hanging in bucket. Use 3/16" airline (as short or long as you want) to connect bucket to outlet. When finished store airline in bucket or boat.

    Tom,

Very nice and informative post. I will have to try and add that modification to my fishin caddy. Thanks for a unique idea.
