A group of us from church spent 10 days in Louisiana after Katrina. It is unbelievable the damage those things can cause. I told my wife that I saw what bombs and napalm did in Korea and it was nothing compared to Slidell. I hear we are gonna look at going back down South somewhere for 10 days. Just not sure where. We will discuss it tomorrow night.

No Scott I was one of the very few lucky ones that still have power. All I had was a few shingles blew off my old boat house and some limbs and yard junk from the trees.

My family or should I say my wife's family was hit much worse with water in there house pretty deep, like 5' deep I think.

Every one down in Orange County was really hit very hard and the real shame is that is also the spot that took the worst of Rita 3 years ago.

From what I understand Orange County took the brunt of this storm even though it made land fall in Galveston. However Galveston has a sea wall that it didn't really breach as did Port Arthur, but Orange no such luck and really no way to have one as the water comes from Sabine Lake.

I am still awe struck from what I saw there after Rita. We were hit hard by Rita way up here and when I went back to see Orange I just couldn't believe it. One had to see it to understand it.

There may be pictures at that KOGT web site from Rita as well.

Most of the folks here in Eastern,NC can sympathize with you,Floyd was unreal. My wife works at the base in Jacksonville and we live in Burgaw. It's roughly 30 miles or so on Hwy 53,at least half was flooded bad enough to drive a boat on.Alot of folks didn't have any flood insurance and they lost everything they had.
