Thumbs down A little trivia about a barrel of oil

This makes a person even madder about the price of oil.
You would think there would be atleast 55 gallons.
Must be that dam metric system.

One barrel contains 42 gallons of crude oil.
The total volume of products made from crude oil based origins is 48.43 gallons on average - 6.43 gallons greater than the original 42 gallons of crude oil. ...

No reason at all to get mad. I believe you were confusing a barrel with a drum. (Not to be confused with the musical instrument) A barrel of crude oil has always been 42 gallons. This is simply a unit of measure since crude oil is not hauled in barrels any longer. A drum comes in 35 and 55 gallons sizes and is commonly used to transport processed motor oil.---Pooch

Thank you for the clarification Pooch.

That's a lot for me to absorb at the moment.
