    Default sharpening hooks?

Last time out (shark fishing) I noticed i needed a hone for sharpening some dull hooks. In the past i have noticed that the freebie sharpeners i had were, we will saw absolutely worthless. They are all junk and to coarse. What grit works well? Lastly i was looking at some eze lap sharpeners online that were super fine (1200), would this be ok? I know diamond can seem a little coarser than normal stone.

I bought a retractable pocket pen style from Wal-Mart that does an excellent job on my Kershaw knife. It has a hook sharpening groove also. It is a diamond steel. I think that it was less than 10 bucks.
