Exclamation Orange Lake rocks for crappie!

Since late March and April ice out, crappie fishing has been unbelievable. Up until last week, the fish are still schooled tightly in post spawn. A few new lures have done the best for me - slider grubs and flash jigs. Even the lowly Swedish Pimple has gotten many consecutive fish!

Unfortunately Orange L. is a numbers lake, with a majority of crappie only 10"-11". The 12 plus crappies are routinely caught in the tidal creek across the Hudson R., along with nice yellow perch.
I even caught a crappie on a 3.5" Smallie Beaver bass bait as well a this one on a fat jerk stick.
