I appreciate the four strokes and direct-injected two's we have now
compared to the stuff I grew up with -
but I'm not looking forward to having a boat motor with a cat. convertor.
not sure how they're gonna package that - I was thinking they could water
cool it, but at least internally it's got to get HOT HOT HOT to work so
Ain't no telling how BIG it'll have to be, and not a lot of room to put anything else without
moving out is some direction.

I believe both the Mercury Optimax and Evinrude E-tec both meet these requirements. It seems that the almighty 4-stroke that was the be all end all will get even heavier and more apt to problems with the additional heat that a catalytic converter will produce.
How about a brand new 2005 mercury 50 that still has a carb with oil injection. Will you have to add something to them?
