    Default September specks...(pics)

Wife and I took day trip up to Hardy lake in Newaygo Co. and managed to catch a handful amidst all the crazys out for one last fling for the summer.

Two blacks at 12", and one at 14 1/2". Mama caught a NICE smallie and it was a hoot watchin' her wrestle with it. Made her day for sure. One fat gill and one fat pumpkinseed to boot.

    Supper.

We got punkinseeds here, but they don't look like that one. Ours gotta lot of blue coloring and only get 3-5 inches long. The look like they are some kind of exotic fish. Really pretty fish.

Those are some really nice Crappies and a nice Gill and a beautiful Pumpkinseed (Redears/Shellcrackers don't have the blue rays on their faces--unless they're a hybrid and result from a cross with a Pumpkinseed as one of the parents)!!!!!

That's a longear sunfish, Cane Pole, check out the clear to white margin around the gill flap or operculum flap and they only get 3-6 inches long on average... They're beautiful fish!!! I used to catch alot of them in the rivers and creeks where I grew up in Virginia!!!

Ok. That is what the grand kids catch at the boat dock in mid summer. They must like hot water.
