Hey Matt, luv those big'ol Wintertime slabs!!! Nice fish!!!
Winter is around the corner boys... sort of
Been spending some time on my favorite crappie haunts trying to waypoint a few spots for the upcoming winter season. Often times the summer and fall periods find me smack dab in the middle of a winter crappie frenzy... meaning this is time well spent in the boat which equates to time well spent come hard water.
Finding spots during the open water season is much easier than during ice. You can move faster and cover more ground. With the advantage of modern sonar/GPS we can avoid a lot of the wintertime searching frustrations.
So, get out there and locate those isolated rock piles, find those stumps/sunken trees, and hone in on those elusive inside turns... cause you can bet these areas will hold fish this winter!
Soon it will be time to catch a few...
Getting the itch!
Good Fishin,
Matt Johnson

Welcome aboard MJ. Even though we dont get ice here anytime is a great time to be checking out prospective crappie holes for the future. This time of the year is also a great time to be out there putting out a few brush piles for yourself too. I'm looking forwards to cooler nights...then cooler days....and finally COOLER WATER TEMPS!!:p Then it's...
SLAB-CRAPPIE TIME!!!!:D:D
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
Well gabowman, if you ever make it up to the frozen tundra I'll do my best to put you on some slabs
Welcome Matt and you are so right.
We are less then 2 months away from getting out on that ice to find those mules.
Good luck to you this season.
Welcome Matt! Cant wait to get out on the ice myself and your right wintertime does mean slabtime.
