    Default GPS coordinates

I have been entering some GPS coordinates in a handheld gps, Lowrance H2O and I am finding they are not on the internal map (Navionics) where they are supposed to be. Either the coordinates I am using are incorrect (they are from a map by Atlantic Mapping) or I am entering them incorrectly (this could be possible because their is an exta space on the longitude that I have been filling in with a 0 as someone told me). Anyone else having this problem? Send me a PM. Maybe I can get with someone on the telephone and see what I may need to change. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

PD there are two different formats for GPS coordinates. I'm not familiar with either because I have never entered them manually. You can go to the page that shows your real time coords and that will probably be the way you need to enter them. There are converters on the internet that can change these from one format or another. By the way you can download your owners manual from lowrance's website.

FZ is right. You have to set your H2O for the same format as you are entering. Post an example of one and I can look it up for you.

    Latitude North 33 20' 53.0" Longitude West 83 09' 43.0"

I entered exactly as you see except there is an extra key stroke in front of the 8 where I was told to put a 0.

From the format I am looking at on the gps what you are saying makes sense.

I would assume there is a process to change the format on the gps, correct?

Any comments or direction is appreciated.

First of all you have to be in advance mode
    Hit Menu
    Highlight advance mode
    Enter
    Say Yes
    Enter

    Now hit menu twice
    Highlight GPS setup
    Enter
    Highlight coordinate system
    Enter
    Highlight Coord System
    Enter
    Highlight Deg/Min/sec
    Enter
    Exit
    Exit
    Exit

You are now set up for the coords you showed us and you should not have to enter any exta digits..
