    Default Crappie

Some of the crappie I caught yesterday had their tails worn down . I haven't noticed this on the crappie I have been catching. Is this from the spring spawn or something else. There is one at the bottom of the picture

To me, it looks more like a disease then a spawning issue. Also, I've never seen a tail worn off starting at the top.
Besides that, I believe the spawn would be over where your at.

Thanks , maybe it has something to do with no rain and it is really hot. The lake is down 4 feet. Yesterday was the first time that I noticed it. The crappie spawn in March. I didn't think it would take that long for them to heal up. I'm going back tomorrow maybe there will be little breeze it was almost unbearable wednesday. RW

That is called fin rot it can be treated but also can be fatal if it spreads to the other fins on the fish

It looks like it was fatal to them anyway. Nice catch!
