Thanks Nightprowler64, I just saved the GIF and was going to set up a chart. You saved me and others the work. Catch a bunch.

I must say Kentucky Lake sure is a lot different than the Kansas Lake I fished Saturday. we were catching fish in 91dg.water and the deepest we fished was 6 ft. in 12ft. of water and they were pig's some full grown pigs. we caught a few in 3to4ft of water but most in 6ft. what a difference a couple states west makes...

Thats what I call the fabled "Shallow Summer Slab Pattern" something I would like to experience except I'm kind of heat intolerant and don't really like messing with minnows. The method really sounds interesting to me and I like that type of fishing but so far I have only experienced Shallow Summer Dinks trying that method.

Beagle man if this works in Oklahoma and Kansas it sure seems like one could be tearing them up over at Truman Lake. How have you fellows fared in Missouri with this method?

Thanks for the advice. It may not work in every instance, but then again, you say plainly that it is a "place to start."

It's real good information. If they don't jump on the hook at those depths, well, God gave each of us a noggin' and He expects us to use it, savvy?

The more information we each have, the better decisions we can make. <><

I think Canepoles GIF is pretty much dead on......however; as long as their have been fishermen, the fish have defied both the norm and the odds. The fabled Shallow Summer Slab Pattern can happen just about anywhere.....I saw it Sunday in North Mississippi when out trolling cranks in one of our great crappie lakes......boats and fishermen hunkered down over 6-8ft of water with 88-90 degree surface temps and apparently catching fish. From years of experience on these lakes....and you guys can correct me if you think I'm wrong...have shown me that crappie as well as catfish, bass, drum and other species follow the movement of shad and other bait fish. In the late summer here the draw down of the lakes put the bait fish on the move toward the dams and often to shallower water in the process. Doesn't always make sense but many a slab crappie has found its way into my boat slow trolling shallow running crank baits in water under 10ft. deep.
Meet a resonable man halfway everytime....don't meet an unresonable man at all.

Hey LBM sorry it took so long to get back. one good thing about the trip we took is two other guys fished only with jigs. they were small tube jigs, and small bever tails. it was awsom. we had 5over 1.8lb. and several got away that looked huge. of corse the one that gets away is always the biggest. it works try it. we have been doing real well on TRUMAN LAKE real well. the CRAPPIE MASTERS touirnament this past weekend produced several large stringers. the winner had almost 19lb. for the two days Richard Bowling a local TRUMAN guide out of buck saw marina won the event. good man and a real good fisherman .... later
