i want a unit that can use the platinum 3d lake maps, has a trolling motor mount or is universal sonar (minn kota), would prefer internal gps antenna, i have a 1197 on console could link i guess, just wanting simple i returned the 997 (no trolling motor mount) ,then got the lowrance lcx37 but got it home it looked like it needed a engineer to hook up, so i returned it too...now i got a new platinum card with no home ,

Be careful about the internal GPS antenna. When you tilt the screen upwards you can loose the GPS signal. A seperate antenna will be much more reliable. I'm speaking only from a friends experience with a Lowrance unit with the built in antenna. Good luck.

Two years ago I got a Lowrance X-25C, got one of those little plates that mount antenna right behind the unit . Unit worked sporadically, finally moved antenna to back of boat and it has worked fine ever since.
