    Default newbie, central Ms.

Hi, just joined forum this week. Great info for just retired need to fish old man. Just bought G31448 pan fish, 25 electric start tiller Yamaha, power tilt, MK remote 40 lb. troller, Bear trailer. I agree with what another poster said, it is hard to rig a new boat in 100 degree wheather. I am still in rigging stages with new parts here and just too hot in the pm to work. I usually go fishing at 5:30 am or so when it is somewhat cooler. Not catching a lot of crappie and the ones I catch are 10 to 12 inches and all black (no whites). I have a long way to go to figure these species out. I also like to fish for redears, big blue gills and cats.
My first question is rod holders. I have a nice flat pad starboard and port 4" below gunwale. I am going to order 4 to start and would like to know what degree angle do most of you all use? My choices are 0, 5, 30 and 45 degree. I am undecided as to what height to buy. I troll from the aft seat and sometimes tight line from the aft also. Wife gets the bow seat when she goes. I really do not want anything really high sticking up in the air so I can snag it. I have to be the worlds worst about getting things all tangled up in the boat. Rod holders are here not installed yet. Thanks, John

Welcome and I got the rod olders the Wal Mart has. The bases are seperate from the holders and the holders rotate in a star type pattern 360 degrees and lock in differant positions and adjust up and down and have a piece to lock your rods in for trolling. I believe they are made by Attwood if I remember right. But I can remove and store when I aint using them. Hope this helps. I am not sure the angle I use most but usually just a little angled up from lev el with the water if that makes any snse at all.
