Been using it for 2 years. So far so good. 4# & 6#
My dad was in town this weekend and he wanted to visit Bass Pro. So what the hey, I'm always open to a visit. While there, I intended on purchasing a spool of the Wally Marshall Hi-Vis in the #6 range. They were out, so I keep looking and ran across the Hi-Vis line made for saltwater. It's made by Offshore Angler and #6 test. Just curious about the characteristics of this line. But for $4.99 for a 2155yd spool, I'm not much. Just looking for some opinions. Thanks, Rollcaster..........................

"Hello, My name is Bill, and I'm a tackleholic"
Do you have any idea what diameter the line is for the 6#?

According to the BPS ad :
2154 YARDS
CLEAR 6 LB
.010" DIA. (.25mm)
$4.99
That's about the normal diameter for that size mono, I think. My BPS Excel, Stren, and Trilene mono's are the same diameter (in 4lb test) as the Offshore Angler (in 4lb test) .... .008" (.20mm) --- so I'd think the 6lb tests would all be the same diameter, as well. At least, they should be ...for the basic line of these brands of mono, anyway. Some brands do have "thinner" lines, of the same pound test, but they have different "names" for them.

I was looking for the Wally Marshall line and they were out, so I bought the Offshore Angler in 10 LB test hi vis. Put it on 6 trolling reels, so far so good.
Rollcaster,
I've tried both in 8lb, and the Offshore Angler seemed to have more line memory off the spool, but after dragging it behind the boat a ways, it performs very well.
Price is right, that's for sure.
I have been happy with both.

One of my carp buddies uses it and likes it a lot.
Thats the kind of information I've come to respect from my fellow fisherman. I did notice also while practicing in the yard, that the line retained its memory and looped off more often. But thats nothing a little Reel Magic can't cure. Thanks for all the advice. Rollcaster..................................

I use 6lb Clear-Blue Stren only! I use it trolling, shooting docks, or brushpiles. There's a couple of reasons, first is less resistance through the water second when I get hung up it's easier to break the line. Sometimes it's real hard to break 6lb line and I don't know how others use anything heavier, Stren 6lb is some really strong line.
