    Default excited males ?

Fished anouther one of my local haunts(Chautauqua) and caught only male fish. All these fish were "squirting". I told my buddy that I thought the females had already moved in and out and the males were doing there thing. He said that before the females drop there eggs the males will get excited and start "squirting" so the females had not nessassarily come in shallow yet.
I know the males move in first, but what about this getting excited.
What do you think about this? Does this theory hold any water?

I can't say that I have heard anything about this.....I have read a good many books on crappie and I haven't come across this yet, but I might do a little more research on this.....
I won't be at work........I'm feelin' crappie today!

I observed some excited males today. Something I have never seen before crappie fishing.

As I reeled in hooked crappie I saw two or three other males following the hooked crappie to the boat. Saw this on three or four occurences.

I have seen this before while fishing for black bass and whites and always while they were feeding and usually busting shad on the surface. These crappie today were in spawn mode and not in a feeding frenzie. Anyhow that was my assumption.

The water had a foot or so of clarity which was clearer than what we normally fish here. The following fish did not ripple or break the surface as they pursued the hooked fish.

You folks that fish clearer water have probably seen this before. Would be interested in your observations and comments on this. Just found it interesting and enjoyed watching it happen. But when isn't a hooked crappie not enjoyable.
