Crappie rods for trolling

What kind of rod do U all use or suggest for crappie trolling? I could pick up a once in awhile saueye but it will be 90% for crappie with line counter reels using bandits...

I just use what I have Jax.
A 6' rod for 10# fish. (Red Salmon) and those cheap little things WalMart sells with the Closed face reels.
I've caught Stripers and Bass on a little Road Runner lure, but nothing else while trolling.
In the morning I'm going out and troll for Crappie.
One thing I'm going to use on that Salmon Rod is a big Flatfish.

I'll put Road runners on the cheap little weak rods.

Pro Angler Rods! I recently purchased some of these rods and they have enough backbone to lift fish into the boat. The other ones that I have don't have enough backbone and let the fish slap the side of the boat when you try to lift them in the boat. Give them a try you won't be dissapointed.

J. Whites Article on trolling crankbaits mentions using:
7' medium action Ugly Stick casting rods, tough and not terribly expensive.
He mentions the model numbers in his article.

With those - I myself use both the BassPro, and Daiwa linecounter reels,
With the set up I fish for Crappie, Saugeye, Striper, and Walleye.
The only exception is now I'm using 20 # Big Game as a catch all line.

I am using some of my spider-rigging rods. I use Wally Marshall tight line specials. They have worked fine for me this year.

For trolling I use Fiberglass West point B&M rods, think they were around 13 or 15 bucks,
For spider rigging I use Graphite pro angler rods( well I will this year,,,what a great feeling and looking rod!!)
The fiberglass has more of a slow bending arc to it when you hook a fish. The graphite I here is a little quciker with a snap and could possibily jerk the hook out of the fishes mouth.

BnM Black Widow 13.5' fiberglass for Front trolling (Michigan version of spider rigging w/ line limitation). Have them spooled w/ 8# braided Fireline tipped down to 10' of 6# Spiderwire w/ some of those nifty little Fastclips Cabelas sells for quick jig change. I like it just fine after you get used to how easy it is to create a mess at the tip if you jerk the pole and miss the fish. I probably would like graphite better if I wasn't so cheap and spent the money on them.

Really need the longer poles up here w/ all the clear water.

I was a fly fishing guide in Arkansas for 10 years and the good folks from G Loomis where some of my customers and they tipped me not only with flyrods, but some really great spinning rods that I brought home for the crappie ......my setup is 11ft and 9'6 slow action bronzebacks and 6'10" drop shots. Expensive rods I know but they work great for long lining cranks and jigs...good backbone but really sensitive tips which is what I like in a trolling rod. I can use them for other types of fishing as well and I haven't broke a rod , or lost a trophy crappie yet. I also use the Quantum Tom Huckabee dipping sticks.
