good job greenchicken....never seen it done exactly like that....but it gave me an idea on how to do it a little differnet. I see that fillet knife is still working good for you. Thanks for sharing.

    Default Some Tips

I've been filleting fish for 50 years. This was a good video but I do some things differently.

    1. If the fish is alive I kill it before I fillet it. I've had fish biologists tell me different stories on if a fish can feel being filleted if it is still alive. I don't take a chance. I only fillet dead fish.

    2. Electric knife not required. SHARP manual knife does great. It is easier to clean after.

    3. In the video the man skins the fish with a motion toward himself. This is a recipe to cut yourself. ALWAYS cut away from yourself.

    4. I clean fish outside. The women I live with prefer it that way and I like to live with happy women.

Now get started and fix up some fillets!!!

stringerfull I am with your technique for tip 2, 3 and 4. I always cut away from me...as accident prone as I am...I wouldn't be able to type right now...wouldn't have any fingers.

I'm with you Stringerfull. I don't fillet live fish. You wouldn't skin live squirrels, would you?

A live squirrel would skin you before you had a chance to skin him.
