    Default Why no gas motors?

Just curious why alot of the lakes in maryland are electric motors only? The navy sent me up here and all of the lakes( granted only 3) that I have fished do not allow gas powered outboards. Why is this?

Most are electric only due to drinking water or reserve lakes for watersheds.

If they did that here in Madisonville we would have a riot! We do have some great waters here though. I have lived in area's like that and I kind of enjoyed the quiet fishing.

Now to add to the frustration. There are three reservoirs in MD (Liberty, Loch Raven and Pretty Boy) that are restricted and you must have an affidavit stating that you will not use your boat in any other waters. The reason is the potential for zebra mussel infestation. They also restrict live bait unless it's purchased from a certified zebra mussel free bait shop. They're also the three largest reservoirs in MD.
