    Default Rabbit Hunting

Just wondering if there are any rabbit hunters out there.

I mainly rabbit hunt, give up the deer hunting/squirrel & stick w/ the bunnies.

I have 4 dogs, which I consider to be good dogs, 2 are getting old & I need to breed them, but I haven't had much luck in raising pups, parvo is my worst problem. I've considered a lot off the ground to raise them, but haven't gotten that far yet.

Is it best to breed in the summer/spring/fall/winter?

Just a different topic of sorts.

    Thanks!

Love to hunt but have only had two dogs and usually hunt with others who have dogs. Not sure about the parvo, but doesn't it stay in the soil? I would guess winter since most of the nasty stuff likes warm moist areas. Good luck with the dogs. Hope someone will post some real knowledge.

Thanks for the input. I need to clorox the ground good, that would probably help best. Just thought about putting this up since no one had mentioned rabbit hunting yet, it's a great sport, it's hard to find good places to go anymore, well, they're not as plentiful as they used to be, but I still love the thrill!

Provo is on the rise here in West Tn. You know the symptoms, so isolated and treat immediately. Colorox works. Keep kids (and anyone who wants to pet or handle them) away from dogs. Spray the bottom of your shoes before going into dog kennel and also your hands if you are going to handle your dogs. Sounds extreme, but it can save your pups life.

I miss my beagle dogs. Had a small beagle (13") named Tinker Bell and a fiest burr named Jerico. What some dogs. I sure miss them.

Give your pups shots at 4,6,8,12,16 and you want have to worry about em catching parvo...Give momma dog shot at time of breeding.

Yeah, I use clorox to clean their lots & put a cap full in their water from time to time, helps keep their water clean & helps the dogs too.

Yes it can, as I have found out over the years, it's been a thorn in my side for a long time.
