Default Took a Yankee and a Californian fishing..

These guys were not fishermen. I went over a lot of stuff the day before we went out in the boat (dry run). Had a hard time convincing them to leave their bobbers at home. Neither of them had ever did any vertical fishing, so I gave some lessons. They caught on and by days end, they were doing just fine. Caught a lot of dinks and a few slabs. I stayed busy tying lines.

I also gave them some pointers on the sonar and gps. They were clueless at first, but by days end they could navigate and tell arches, bait fish, and brush piles on the screen.

I did not have a sonar up front. I was using the Garmin 276C only. I did pretty good considering everything.

At days end we filleted the catch and had a California dish called Fish Taco. It was gooooood. Gonna try it out again.

Fish found in 18-25 foot water main channel drops Big Sandy, Ky Lake. The bite was light too. Missed a lot of fish, but the fellows tried hard.

    We had a large time.

My Lord man, you have got to be more careful. Some of them Yankess is OK, but you wouldn't want your sister to marry one. Californians, man that is a whole nother ball game cause they is way out there. It might wear off on you.
Seriously, there is nothing more satisfying than taking someone that has never been able to enjoy fishing and introducing them to the sport. Passing on something you have worked hard to learn really makes you feel good. Glad it went well.
By the way, my sister didn't marry one but my aunt did. From Michigan. One of the greatest guys I ever knew.

sounds like you guys had a good time Cane Pole. I myself spend a lot of time teaching and taking beginners fishing and it is usually big fun, especially if the fish cooperate. and lag, thanks for the Michigan plug, some of us yanks are ok,,:D
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D

He gonna send the recipe when he gets home. He kinda improvised here. He talked about name brands I never heard of before. They don't carry that stuff at Fred's or the Dollar General Store.
