transducer interference

i have a 1999 model eagle fish finder i mounted the transducer to teh bottom of the trolling motor which is a 2002 motorguide.the fish finder reads crazy im in 4 foot of water and it says 15 the contour is always flat when i know there are humps and drop offs never shows a fish.so i was wondering if they are interferring with each other and if so how do i fix it

Turn the one off that you're not using. Had a similar problem with using my 480 on my console and 320 on my troller. They interfered with each other. Turned the one off i wasn't using and dont have any more problems.

only have the one on the front mounted to the trolling motor.im asking if the trolling motor is causing this to happen

if they both run off the same battery put them on separate batteries sometimes that will cause interference

I think they're now making trolling motors with built-in transducers,and the wiring runs internal of the shaft. I've also heard of others having problems (on rare occasion), but wouldn't think manufacturers would build a motor & transducer combo if it were much of a problem.

Do you have interference when not using the trolling motor? what happens if you're just setting still in the water with your fish-finder on?

Run a separate ground wire to the motor housing itself, that will more than likely clear your problem. If it has a metal shaft, than you can run the ground wire to the bolt that holds the top housing on. If you have a composite shaft, you need to run the wire down to the motor housing itself, drill a small hole on the skeg and attach with a screw. this has worked on both Motoguide and Minnkota's I have had.

i have them on seperate batteries so probably not that. when u say a seperate ground wire r u meaning from the eagle to the trolling motor thanks for the help i will try some of these and see

No, something that is tied to the battery ground, just use the ground from your trolling motor wiring.
