Palomar knot two jigs about 18 inches apart then an swivel top weight below them about 12 inches, this works good for me just make sure the hook points are up, not down.
Good luck, kymdfisher
I know it has been asked a thousand times. I am wanting to slow troll a double jig setup in a reservoir along a river ledge. What are some setups you guys use? Weight on bottom or weight on top? Is this the best way to fish this area? The top of the ledge 15-18 Foot to 25-30 in the river channel.

I don't troll a whole lot, but when I do, this set up works for me. First I tie on a small barrel swivel. Tie to that a section of line about 4-5 feet long. Toward the top of the line, below the swivel, run the line through an egg sinker two or three times to hold it in place. 12-18" below that, tie the top jig with a drop loop of 3 or 4 inches to hold it away from the line withe the hook pointing up. Then 12-18: below that tie the bottom jig with a loop knot. The loop knots alow the jig to have free movement and I think it gives them more action. There are as many opinions on which knot is best as there are different ways to rig a double trolling rig. I personally like the weight up above the jigs. It holds the lines vertical while allowing the jigs to work as they should. I use the lightest weight I can get away with depending upon wind and wave action and how deep I am trolling. Anywhere from 1/2 ounce to 2 ounces. The places I troll are similar to what you describe. 12-20 feet deep along channel edges and flats on a reservoir, and this works for me.

I use kym's set up. It helps you to feel the shy bites a little better....to me
I tie a loop knot with 1/4 oz or less jig approx 18 inches from the end of the line where I'm using a 3/8th oz jig head. The bottom jig is tied with either a loop knot or palomar knot.
I would be bouncing the bottem on the channel edge with the 3/8th oz jig. I would be working the channel edge towards the channel until I lost contact with the bottom then work the channel a bit then work back towards the edge to find the bottem again.
