For A 6" Swimbait I Use A 7/0 Weighted Hook. If You Dont Have Enough Weight They Will Spin. I Like At Least A 3/8 Oz. But I Have Used As High As A 3/4 Oz.
I just recently picked up some 6" swimbaits for the first time, and thought I would give them a try. I am new to fishing these lures, and am not sure what I'm doing wrong. I bought a couple packs of baits and a pack of 3/0 weighted swimbait hooks. I can not get the bait to run right. I wants to twist and spin while reeled in. I dont think I have the right hook/bait combo, but I dont know what I need. Does anybody have any info?

Thanks, thought that might be the problem
I assume you're talking about the bass magic swimbaits, or something of the same style??
For me, 2/0 for 3.5 inch baits, 4/0 for 4.5 inch, 6/0 or higher for anything bigger.
Good luck! These baits get hammered!:D
Yeah, they are the bass magic. I'm not real comfortable throwing such a big bait, but with all the craze going around, thought I would give them a try.
Have no worries. They get eaten! What size are you throwing?
Got the right combo, finally. Fished a 6" shad color, and got a couple big uns. It takes a little patience, but I like it so far. Thanks for your help guys.
Are you using a barrell swivel in the set-up too? About a foot of a leader? Like you would throw a floating worm or a carolina rig with a weight above the swivel?
Hooking up every chance I get!
