    Default Ram mount broke

My Ram mount that holds my Lowrance boke. Not sure how as I just noticed the Lowrance layin on the bottom of the boat yesterday while I weas cleanin it out. The mount broke on the stem just before the ball at the base. It didn't happen while I was usin the boat but sometime after the last time I took it out which was last weekend. I don't understand how this could have happend since these type of mounts seem to be very tough. Anyone else had this happen?

I got a few of them, haven't heard of one breaking, but first time for
everything. They look like a casting, maybe that one had an air bubble
or something in a bad place? I forget the details, but seems like I
remember them having a good warranty. I bet they'd send you a
replacement if you got ahold of the right people, might even want to
    see the broke one.

edit - Went and searched, found this:

That's good to know. I have Ram mounts on all my electronics. Never had one break. Could happen any time I guess.

I have a Hummin 997, this spring I switched from the 1 1/2" ball to the larger 2" ball on the advice of several people who fish Lake Michigan. Seems in rough water the weight of bigger electronics was too much for the ball connection-not breaking, but the connector would slip on ball allowing finder to swing down bang! While it happened to only a few it was enough for me to go to larger size to protect my 997 finder. This ball & its connecter are quite large but well so is the price of the 997.....
