    Default Conroe Lake (Texas)

I'll be making a trip out to Texas on the 20th of this month for a couple of days of fishing. What can I expect from this lake? Also have they started spawning yet?

    Default Daryl ........

here's some info you might be interested in ...... http://www.fishin.com/reports/tx/conroe.htm

Personally, I would think the Crappie would be several weeks post spawn - by the 20th ... and setting up in the timber, waiting to ambush the baitfish as they migrate to the shallows & back. But - don't overlook docks & pontoon boats (moored in slips or alongside docks) with deep water under them. Shoot jigs underneath the pontoons, and far back under the stationary docks ... especially if the lake has a good population of Black Crappie. They seem to like the cooler water temps that the shade of docks and pontoon boats affords them ... and they will suspend under them.
If the lake is predominately a White Crappie lake - they will likely be on the deep submerged timber & brushpiles. (but, in either case, it's a matter of what the water temp is, at that time) ........ luck2ya ....cp
