Finally decided to start doing some crappie fishing out here as the word is around here that the crappie get pretty large. Well, they were right. Went out to San Carlos Lake on the Apache Indian Reservation yesterday. Caught over 40 crappie - 26 were keepers with none being under 1lb. I had to attach a picture of two of the largest ones caught. I am now hooked (so to speak) on crappie fishing!! Look forward to getting to know you and getting some great advice from the seasoned crappie fishermen and fisherwomen here! Thanks, Jeff
You have stumbled onto what has been a pretty well kept secret, crappie bragging rights start at 2lbs in the southwest. Have fun! Try the north end of Lake Alamo State Park in the March/April timeframe. If you are in the mood for the Colorado River and catfish, check out:

40-60lb Flatheads are caught every week during the summer. If you are in the mood for a really big catfish, come spend a week in San Diego and trade triple digit AZ temperatures for 100lb plus Bluecats.
