Is anyone using the trolling motors that mount on your lower units? I run a bass boat and have a Maxxum foot controled unit on the front of the boat but it does not troll well without staying on the foot control. This is tough when you are on a guide trip and the person cannot run the trolling motor. I am thinking of adding the lower unit motor to allow me to troll and do other things on the boat. I do not want to replace my Maxxum with an Auto Pilot because I do a lot of bass fishing also and they are not good for that. If anyone has any experience with these units please let me know.

I've always wondered how do you control and steer it?
crappie cowboy
The motor hooks to your outboard's cavitation plate. You steer it by turning your outboard with the steering wheel. The speed is controlled by a corded remote control. Just steer with the steering wheel. As a guide who trolls for crappie and striper and also fishes with a foot control trolling motor for bass and other species, this seems to be the best solution.

I had one on a Runabout once. Mounted on anti cavitation plate. Worked very good and was powerful. Sold it with boat.
