    Default Crappie Picure

Here is yesterday's catch on jigs. Most were 13 to 14'' Crappie. The water is still falling fast. I lost several good ones at the boat trying to net them. Seemed like the fish don't get hooked good because of light bite. The Catfish must be close to spawning as I hook several each day on jigs.

    WTG Nimrod.
I'll tell you what. This spring has been the worst I believe as far as fishing goes.
If there is one decent day in a week to go fishing, it's amazing.
Cold front or wind has been terrible up here. It's either that or I'm headed you the Dr's office.
    Oh well,,,, maybe tomorrow.
    I'll quit whining now.

The last couple of weeks or so it has seemed that the dinks will yank your rod into the water, spider-rigging, but the good fish will just be there. I don't understand it but the jig will almost be out of sight in the dinks. You sure have to watch your poles carefully to catch the big ones.

That something I remember when I used to try and bass fish. A little ol bass would just knock the heck out of a bait and the larger bass would just inhale the bait.

Crappie tend to be the same way at times when they take a bait. Iffen I'm on a catch and release outting I enjoy the thump reguardless of the size of fish thumping the bait.

I'm guessing that a smaller fish is trying to stun the bait making it easier to consume where as the larger fish only have to open inhale and close their mouth to have the bait.
