    Default spider rigging

    Hello everyone,
Just joined and this is my first posting.
I have been fishing since I was a kid. Retired two years ago and we (my wife & I) have been fishing Truman quite a bit. We fish out of the State Park Marina. We have had pretty good success on the crappie, but I often see others that are doing better. Guess I still have a lot to learn.
Can anyone tell me about spider rigging? Never heard of it until last year. I understand the set up but don't know the method. Do you anchor, drift, troll or tie up to a tree? If you use jigs, don't you need to keep some movement on them?
    Thanks for you help.

Welcome to the board. Just my experience, I like to drift or troll [B]SLOW[B]. Usually the boat gives the jigs all of the movement they need. Experiment with different colors and jig types, even minnows. You'll soon figure out what they want at what depth. Its a deadly techinque when you get into a school of them and a great way to cover alot of water.

    Hi Speck Hunter,
On Truman I always catch my crappie in the trees. I can't imagine moving
through the trees with all those long rods sticking out from my boat.
    Do you really do that?

    Thanks for the info,

Welcome from the other side of Truman Lake.It can be done on Truman but boat control is key. Limit the amount of rods used until you feel comfortable and work your way up. I would start with two or three straight out the bow. Great way to catch fish when they relate to breaks in water depth or get scattered in deeper water along the old creek channels.

    Jigging 15,

I was thinking the same way. Three long rods out the front while my wife
    flips jigs from the back.

    Thanks for the info,
