Default New hi vis line tryout......

This is my first year to use hi vis line. I have used Stren original for decades.

I have been using the Suffix hi vis yellow 8# (all they had at Gander Mt in Jackson). Not too bad and I can see it.

Today, I picked up some Suffix 6# Neon Tangerine. Looks good enough to eat. I'll see what it does. Also picked up some Fireline hi vis 10# braid. Gonna try this with my Ky rigs. I ain't ever used braid line either. This stuff ain't cheap, but it is on sale and I get my seniors discount plus the 10 dollar (over 50 bucks) discount.

Anybody using this stuff or am I wasting money?

Fireline good stuff - have switched over to powerpro, mainly because
most of the stores around here switched over too.

stuff will last forever, or seems like it to me.

braided line is great stuff. i just replaced some on my main fishing reel. it has been on it since 1997. the line was still good, i just had cut it off to retie so many times that it got down to where i was throwing down to the backing. i believe you will be very happy with the braid.

For the fireline or any braided line, make sure you put tape or a mono backing on the reel before you put on the fireline. If you don't, all of the braid will spin around the spool.

    ok. Thanks.

How far can you cast with this line with a 1/4 oz jig? Give me an idea of how much line to spool.

The Suffix Hi Vis works well for me, but I tried the Stren Microfuse and I'm pretty sure I can feel the crappie when they breath on my bait. That has to be the problem because when I set the hook they just don't seem to be there near enough! Hard to catch them when you can feel them before they strike.

    To Memphis.........................

Tom, I use Sufix Elite(red box) 4# test but I doubt it would hold the weight of your jigs...:D

I love it because it has no memory. Especially when it gets good and broke in and starts getting fuzzy and fraid looking, it's in its prime with no compremise of strength.
