Default What color of Jigs have work for you this year so far??

I haven't yet load the boat with Crappie this year, only getting about 7-10 each time out. I really think this is do to Crappie fishing being new to me and not knowing where they are on the lake yet.

So what color of jigs?? In what color of water??

Me: 4 weeks ago Blue body white hackle feather tails, after I lost those and went to Orange head, black body w/ yellow tail. Now I can't get them to hit blue jig since I got replacements. They want something with yellow in it.

Water: Was mudding at first but slowly clearing up.

One lake I fish has been murky all spring - have had great luck with tubes in orange/chart and all chart.

The other lake I fish has been fairly clear and I've been catching them on black/chart and black/blue.

    Default Berkley Crappie Nibbles

I have had luck by tipping the jigs with chartruese Berkley Powerbait Crappie Nibbles. If you use tubes, the bait pump makes it easier to get the crappie nibbles into the tube and stays on alot longer. Linky:

I have a ton of luck on Chartreuse and black marabou jigs or Chartreuse and pink marabou jigs. I also do great on wooly worms.

The water I fish is usually murky to downright muddy. 2" tubes on a 1/16 oz. round head red hook in Black with Chart. or Hot Pink tail, Red /Chart, and my all time best Pumpkin/Chart/ pepper. I've got most of the other colors but usually if I can't get bit on one of those four combos it isn't going to happen that day. That doesn't stop me from buying other colors. I think it's a sickness.

Fish a minnow on a 1/16oz pink feather jig. It will reap HUGE rewards.

I have done well on several colors.

One is Silver/FL Yellow/Lt Blue hackle tail.
Another really good one that is new for me is...White with big black eyes/Red thread/FL Yellow over Black Hackle tail. That order is while in vise.
Fl Chart/Lt Blue/Marabou Roadrunner (cloudy day)
FL Chart/Lt Blue/White Marabou (Sunny Day)

The 2 Above if fishing tight line I use hackle tails and not a RR then.

There have been others, but these have been the main ones for me.
