Default Pics of my trip to the Gulf 4/22/05

Went down to my Dad's this weekend to go out in the gulf fishing. Caought these on Friday, 20 miles offshore in 45 ft of water, using squid and cutbait. Only caught 2 grouper that were keepers, threw back another 30 that were undersize.(have to be 22" to keep) Also have 58 Florida snapper, 9 Black sea bass and 2 triggerfish. Didn't get to go out Saturday as the weather turned rough.

    Default Gulf Catch

Good catch of KeyWest Grunts, or RubyLipped Grunts. Gotta trip planned soon, hope to get some grouper and cobia on board. An Amberjack here or there wouldn't be bad either.

Talking Since we're showing off our saltwater catches......

Caught this bull red below N.O. close to "Happy Jack". My first redfish may be the biggest I'll ever catch, but I can't wait to get back and try again. Those big boys are some kinda strong.

I love to catch those red fish too - I think my next trip to Florida is going to be around the everglades for snook and red fish - here in North Carolina we have some good reds too - I pick one up once in awhile when flounder fishing - my biggest was 6lbs - I have a friend that caught a 42 lb red - he had a replica made from a picture and measurements - it was way over the slot limit
