Default color combos for dark water

I'm new here , so please foregive me if I ask questions that have
    been answered before.

#1 My home lake ( Lake Palestine in Texas) is never clear, but rarely
muddy. Just a dark , tannin-stained color. What are your favorite colors
    in this kind of water.

#2 I've never had a lot of success with jigs at night. Any tips ?

    thanks

When I was in Texas and fished tannin-colored water I used blue/black on overcast days and junebug on sunny days. I stick with dark colors at night...when all else fails, tip your night jigs with minners. Tight Lines! Welcome aboard from the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains!

I fish a tannin stained lake up north for a week each summer. I've found that plain chart doesn't work. For some reason, they like the silver sparkle with white, and the blue/black, and the red/white and blue/white. (i'm talking 1.5" tubes here). With the combo colors I always give the body color first, followed by the tentacle color second.

Around home, those colors rarely work, but in that little tannin-stained lake, those are the colors they will hit.

I would suggest a pink head, black body, and pink tail for daytime fishing in off colored water. I fish off colored water most of the time and that combo is deadly.

I like a hot pink roadrunner jig with black body and charteuse tail, blue body with chart. tail and sometimes a black body with a white tail works great. I'll use a roadrunner jig verticle jigging a lot, it seems to draw bites when a regular jig won't get hit. Good luck!

    Default mix it up

I find that 2 or 3 combo color tubes work best in any water. Also a little bigger (2") tube seems to work in muddier water. Red/Chart, Black/Pink, Black/Chart and Bright Lime. Also I have been making white on black permanent marker eyes on the jigs. Also don't be afraid to fish it where the fish are, in the jungle.

You hit the nail on the head with that answer Dennis. Chartreuse/blue and chartreuse/pink may help. Slow it down. Crappies like to study a bait before they inhale it.

All I fish is tannin stain water. rivers lined with cypress trees. Use Green/chart, junebug/chart, blue/chart, pink/white, solid blaze orange. These have been my most productive colors. Only black crappie in my area. don't know if it would make a difference on white crappie. CF
