    Default Smithville Lake

Kind of pricey paying $17.00 per day to launch a boat. Are there any free ramps? Roads to put in off of? Used to be a fella could show up real early and ya wouldn't get charged. Is this still the case?

The only free ramp is just south of Plattsburg. It's on the map the Corps provides on their site...click on it, enlarge it... Cook will probably post directions before I can remember the road names.

    Here ya go http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/sm/Bro...le-LakeMap.pdf

You can take 169 N to 116, go east to Shaver Rd. (R. turn at the water tower)... Shaver Rd south (when you cross Town and Country Rd, the road is shown as Harris Rd on the map) keep going south until you come to a "T" junction. Turn left and keep your eyes to the right. You're there. (If you're following someone, keep your windows rolled up or you'll choke on the dust)... And watch out for the big stump immediately downstream from the ramp... It eats aluminum props.

    (How'd I do, Cook?)
