    trolling motor for a 16 aluminum john? 50hp mariner, couple of batteries and 3ppl max?

    Yes, should be. I have a 65# on a 17.5' Deep-V aluminum w/115 merc and it works well.

    My 50# thrust works great with my aluminum 16-ft sylvan. Actually had a 40# and it worked good also.

    I agree it should be plenty for that boat. It's when you get a bigger heavier boat or a pontoon that needs more than that. 55 # should jerk that boat around really well. Matter of fact don't stand in the front and turn it 90 degrees and hit the motor on high or you may go for an unplanned swim, LOL!

    Plenty of power. I have a 55# on my Tracker 17 foot boat.

    I have a 40 on my 1648, and works fine. Could always use more power though. I think you will be just fine with a 55.

    i have a 40 on my 1860 tracker grizzly and it could use a 55

    This boat has a 50 on it and does very well in wind and ruff water

    hey treed, youve seen my boat. its a heavy 20 ft sea ark and i have a 55lb minkota auto pilot on it. it does a great job for me
