Aud and I went Sunday they had backed off the banks. Caught a few on beds 6 to 10 ft on orange/char, Green/char, purple/char. It should heat up as the week goes on, baring any more cold fronts. It was 34 Sunday morning.

They're still backed off and slow,we fished today and had 20 before the rain came they were out off the ends of laydowns on channel banks.

3 of us went yesterday and we caught 35 in the rain, but like bugman and zip said, they were off the banks. We caught a few within 5' of the banks, but most were about 2' under a bobber in about 6'-10'--usually about 20'-30' off the bank. Color didn't seem to matter too much. We were fishing coves around the 5 MM off the main channel. ALL were BIG crappie! I can't remember a year where we were consistently catching such nice fish.

Dittos to that. They are backed off the bank here on the Niangua, too. In 10 to 30+ feet of water down 2 to 3 feet, also caught a few JUST below the surface, coming up to hit what you are throwin.
Agree, this has been the best year since we have been down here for quality crappie!
